Whilst we understand the disappointment of being unable to visit some planned destinations, river conditions can change rapidly and there are many operational elements that must be assessed and confirmed before any decisions can be made regarding a sailing's itinerary. Where operational changes become necessary, we communicate these as soon as confirmed information is available. We are, however, pleased to hear that despite the disruption, you still considered the cruise itself to be a 5-star experience and enjoyed the comfort of the ship and the high standards of service provided on board. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the first part of your cruise, found the staff to be excellent and appreciated the quality of the food throughout your holiday. We were, however, sorry to learn of your disappointment regarding the disruption to the itinerary. As communicated by our Guest Relations team, the changes to your cruise, including missed ports, excursions and transfer arrangements, were necessitated by exceptionally low water levels on the river. Unfortunately, river conditions are beyond Riviera Travel's control and can require operational changes at short notice to ensure the safety of guests, crew and vessels. As outlined in our booking conditions, itineraries may be amended in such circumstances. We appreciate that these changes affected your overall enjoyment of the holiday and that you were disappointed with the communication surrounding the revised arrangements. Any updates regarding the itinerary were provided as information became available from the relevant authorities and local operators, and we regret that the disruption impacted your experience.
