Six hand-illustrated boxes, each with a unique wildflower mix for attracting garden wildlife. Beautiful gardening gift for anyone who loves nature. Each box contains 6 seed balls (sometimes called 'seed bombs'), each with a different wildflower mix to attract the type of wildlife shown on the top of the box. Each ball is made from a mixture of native wildflower seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder, which together help to protect the seeds during early growth. They’re incredibly easy to use – simply scatter on top of soil or compost (no digging required!), water well (to help initiate growth) and nature will do the rest. They will work well in garden beds, window boxes and balcony pots. One box will cover 1-2 pots or use three boxes for 1 square metre in a garden. An instruction card is included in each box.Scatter anytime from early Autumn through to the end of Spring.Add a special touch with an Ally Gore wildlife card and personal message for £3.25. Each ball contains approximately 30 UK seeds from a mix of:Bee Box - a carefully curated mix of native wildflowers designed to attract solitary bees, honey bees, and bumblebees. This delightful selection includes birdsfoot trefoil, foxglove, red clover, viper’s bugloss, and wild marjoram, creating a vibrant haven for these essential pollinators.Butterfly Box - a charming collection of purple, pink, and blue flowers specifically chosen to attract butterflies to your gardens and balconies. Includes purple loosestrife, forget-me-not, musk mallow, red campion, and yarrow, inviting butterflies to flutter and thrive.Hedgehog Box - This mix offers a wildflower patch that provides shelter and attracts tasty insects for hedgehogs to feed on. This mix includes yellow rattle, wild carrot, birdsfoot trefoil, tufted vetch, self-heal, and poppy, creating a diverse habitat that supports these charming creatures.Bird Box - Designed to support birds either from the seed of the flowers or the insects they support, including goldfinches and robins, our Bird Box features corn marigold, poppy, greater knapweed, sheep sorrel, tufted vetch, and wild carrot.Beetle Box - Attracts pollinating beetles, essential for a healthy garden ecosystem. This mix includes common knapweed, cornflower, cow parsley, field scabious, foxglove, great burnet, and yarrow.Bat Box - Wildflowers that attract the insects that bats feed on, like moths, including borage, cornflower, evening primrose, and night-scented stock, supporting nighttime ecosystems. We make the balls at our Seedball workshop in London, from a mixture of UK wildflower seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder. The outer clay protects the seeds from ants, birds and mice, and once sufficient water has permeated the clay, the seeds inside begin to germinate - helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball. The chilli powder continues to deter slugs and snails while the seed ball slowly breaks down and the seeds sprout.Wildflowers are naturally slow to grow, and the balls can take 2-4 weeks to begin to sprout. Some will flower in the first year while the perennial species may not flower until the second year, but the display should keep getting better each year! The more they are initially watered, the quicker they will be to start to grow, although they will be ok to leave them to the rain to water them as well :)Boxes made from FSC certified card.
