A wall calendar which showcases iconic advertising poster art by John Gilroy (1898-1985), the British artist responsible for over 50 timeless posters for Guinness from the 1930s. Colourful reproductions include highlights from his much-loved zookeeper series, in which an unfortunate zookeeper encounters an unruly lion, crocodile, ostrich, and sea lion emboldened by a tipple. Plus nostalgic images including 'Tis the voice of the Lobster, I heard him declare, “I am ready for dinner, if Guinness is there"’ from 1931; the 200th ‘Birthday Label’ design from 1959; and the Guinness Electric Clock, erected at Battersea Park for the Festival of Britain in1951. Humorous illustrations and memorable slogans - 'My Goodness - My Guinness', and 'Guinness As Usual' – to raise a smile in celebration of the ‘Black Stuff’.
