Fixing Silicone Adhesive. Used for the installation of Defender® bird prevention spikes. We recommend using 1 tube of fixing silicone for every 8 metres of bird spikes. Specially formulated glue designed to react with the polycarbonate base of Defender® Bird Prevention Spikes 285ml tubeCannot be used with other brands of birdspikes made from polypropylene. This product can be used on most clean, dry surfaces such as wood, roofing tiles, steel, concrete, glass, brick and others. Ensure the surface is dry before application. It is a clear substance that is unnoticeable once applied to the base of the bird spikes. It is also UV stabilised, so will not discolour over time. It works perfectly in temperatures ranging from -60°C to 180°C and is formulated to be corrosion free. In fact, it has a life expectancy of 35 years. The silicone reacts with the polycarbonate bases of our Bird Spike range to create a strong bond, holding the bird spikes in place for many years. It is a neutral cure silicone which gives it extra grab and a high adhesive strength. It will stick to virtually any clean, dry, porous or non-porous surface, quickly and securely. It also means it has no nasty smell, which is often associated with some chemical based silicones. The Fixing Silicone is a low modulus silicone, thereby retaining a certain amount of flexibility when cured. It takes 24 hours to fully cure. However, it's high tack make up, it's gel consistency, and the silicone fixing holes in the bird spike bases mean it holds the Bird Spikes in place immediately. How to use the Fixing Silicone Adhesive to install bird spikesThe only specialist tool needed is a caulking gun. Cut open the end of the tube, apply the application nozzle and insert into the caulking gun. An ideal amount of application is a thin bead, so it may be necessary to shorten the nozzle by cutting a little off to achieve this. Apply along the full length of the base of the Bird Spike and press the spike onto the clean, dry ledge or window sill. The adhesive will ooze through the special silicone locking holes in the base, keeping the bird spike firmly in place. Limitations: This Bird Spike Adhesive is not paintable. Do not use with aquaria, on bitumen or asphalt, polyethylene or polypropylene surfaces. It is the user's responsibility to determine the suitability of use. Before use always test the suitability by sticking down 1 section of bird spikes for 24 hours. For more information about silicone adhesive products, click here.
