Over autumn/winter when the plants are dormant the leaves turn brown, and the plants hold onto these leaves. Now as the weather warms up healthy new green leaves will push through. Your White Escallonia is a super evergreen shrub with dark green glossy leaves and masses of bell-shaped white flowers with a hint of pink from June to October. I hope your new plants are settling into their new home. The Privet is a semi-evergreen, which means the plants may lose some or all their leaves during a very chilly winter. As the weather warms lots of new leaves will push through and in the summer they will produce masses of white flowers that will attract lots of butterflies and bees.
