Thank you for your feedback. As you clearly expect our systems are automatically 'set' so customers receive an acknowledgement e-mail and VAT receipt within minutes of placing an order. At the time you placed your order our automated system had dropped it's settings due to an isue with a spam filter and we subsequently identified a number of orders (including your order) that had not received our normal auotmated communication. We contacted those customers who by that time had not received their order. In respect of reaching us by telephone I'm unable to explain why this was the case. I know from regularly working with our sales and service team that we are very focused on our telephone service standards and the few calls we may miss are identified through our system. As a matter of routine we return such calls and responsd to any messages that customers may leave on our answephone service. Having reviewed your order and delivery I would confirm that both our Despatch Team and Pallet Couriers should have contacted you ahead of the delivery. Thank you for your feedback from which I've concluded that when your order was packed an insert to secure the pots was not placed in your box as is our standard practice. Please accept my apologies for this oversight that I've raised with our Operations Manager and Despatch Team. I am pleased to hear that we followed our procedures and secured the plants with an insert. Your point regarding the handling of boxes in transit is accepted although we receive very few complaints about plants damaged in transit. When we do receive any such complaints these are taken up with our couriers Parcel Force and as you'd anticipate we work with them to ensure all our customers orders are delivered on time and without suffering any damage. Thank you for your feedback.In the current weather conditions the best solution is to heel the plants into the ground - dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots, place the Bare Root plants in the hole and place the soil back in the hole making sure it's compacted (use your foot / heel). Once the weather has improved you can then lift and plant the Bare Roots. As a result of your feedback we'll update our Planting Instructions (refer to our website) to include this advice. I've checked the size of roots on the Hawthorn 40/60 Bare Root plants from which your order was 'picked' and these are adequate for the plants to prosper.
