Service rating : NAProduct: Felt like home away from home. Well located, cosy, comfortable, excellent views... excellent hospitality.
Service rating : The website is very good, booking straight forward, Lynda was very helpful and suggested outings and shared local information.Product: All the properties are immaculate, comfortable and cosy. The grounds are nice and there are lovely views. There is a lot to do locally but for a short stay it was great to have interesting walks and beautiful countryside on the doorstep. The hot tub was a fun bonus, especially at sunset, again great views.
Service rating : Lynda and Geoff made sure everything was perfect for our weekend.Product: We cooked a roast dinner for 8 and relaxed in the hot tub. There was everything we needed for a wonderful weekend away. Didn't want to leave.
The greeting and handover of The Manor was first class. Everything explained and after Linda had left us to settle in it was obvious that the house was very clean and exceptionally well appointed. There was plenty of crockery, cooking utensils and the Aga cooker was great, not only to cook our meals but to keep us comfortably warm, although the heating throughout the house was fantastic, never a chilly moment.
We had a lovely time with our family, our grandchildren especially enjoyed the play area and the games room as well as venturing up the hill for the horse rope swing and tree house. The older members enjoyed the Autumn colours and the spectacular views and the middle ones thought the hot tub was just right, despite the chilly evening air! Somewhere to visit again and we will without doubt be returning. Highly recommended
Orchard Barn was a delightful and comfortable place to stay, set in the midst of the countryside. We enjoyed visiting the places of interest all around. Our welcome basket was lovely and we enjoyed it all. I felt so spoilt - like a film-star on holiday, I kept expecting the cameras to be angled at me as I left each day!!!!!!
(There was only one slight problem - and that was with the shower in the left-hand upstairs bedroom. The water was not warm enough.) Despite having problems with the car on the way home (overload which we told you about) we all greatly enjoyed our stay, and went home with many happy memories. Thank you!!
Although We had a problem with hot water a plumber was sent for immediately and it was dealt with same day.26-Oct-2017Lynda is a lovely hostess who provides a wonderful welcome hamper with local produce. The sausage was simply wonderful (as indeed was the elderflower wine). Everything you may need was thought of for a stress-free break. Comfy bed, gorgeous linen, towels, robes and slippers. Fresh eggs too from their own hens.
Fantastic cottage romantic and cosy ! Great base to see all places of interest. Lovely welcoming food hamper !
Great break. Accommodation has lots of character. The only negative are the stone stairs to the first floor. They are steep and narrow. Not suitable for carrying babies/children or older people. Otherwise a lovely place to stay.
We had an amazing stay from start to finish. we stayed in the Brambles, a perfect romantic hideaway for two. Every detail is thought in of from the complimentary toiletries to the wonderful welcome hamper Lynda left for us full of locally sourced treats. Everything was clean, bright and fresh and very comfortable.
The views from our Idyll were breathtaking, we enjoyed an anniversary picnic in Forest barns secret hideaway, spent our days exploring the surroundings and our evening in front of the roaring log fire where an endless supply of logs was to be found. Lynda and Geoff are the perfect hosts, unobtrusive but always on hand if needed. If you want a tranquil, break, that recharges your batteries and feels as if you're in a living HE Bates novel then The Brambles at Forest barns Holidays is the place for you. Thank Lynda and Geoff, we will be back!
High spec. cottage with all the mod. cons. Very family friendly play area in the front of the cottage, ideal if you have small children. Breathtaking views of the landscape. Close to some wonderful family attractions. Superb quite place to contemplate and enjoy the beauty of the countryside.
Beautiful setting and very comfortable cottage.
We had a wonderful week in Meadow Byre. The fact that it rained all but one of the 7 days and that we had a great time is testament to the location and the facilities.
The walks through the forest are delightful. We managed to use the car very little by walking directly from our front door to places such as Speech House, Millard Lakes and so much more. Speech House was the best place we found for lunches or dinners especially as it is dog friendly inside the Orangery restaurant. The cod & chips takeaway from Littledean was naughty but very nice!
Forest Barn is an eco-heaven for those of us who care about such matters. The leadership shown by Lynda and Geoff is remarkable and I urge you to try to get Lynda to show how and what they have done.
What a fabulous place to stay! We recently rented three of the units for a family reunion. It is a great place for events like that because it is very private, plenty of parking, and they have a nice community room to host a big party. The units were very well appointed but retained their cottage charm. The location itself is excellent - quiet, peaceful, and serene (we really hated to leave). The sheep on the farm were a lot of fun to listen to. Lynda and Geoff were wonderful hosts and were great fun to talk to - they were very helpful with anything we needed. We also enjoyed Lynda's feline ambassador, Miss Marmalade - she made sure to check in often and greet us on our returns. I highly recommend Forest Barn Holidays!
Omg what can I say , we had the most amazing holiday, loved the barn , it was spotless , everything we needed was there , the management team was so helpful everything we needed or anything we wanted to know they was there , such a lovely couple sooooo easy to jel with , my whole family will definitely be going back in the near future , will do miss getting up the them beautiful views every morning,
Excellent weekend break, with facilities to make it enjoyable for the entire family - adults and children. Really impressed with the accommodation layout - all cottages within 30 seconds of each other with a communal area and garden right in the middle. Lynda was extremely helpful ahead of our arrival and always available while we were there. Couldn't have asked for more.
Lynda was very helpful at all times
This place is utterly perfect!
We spent three nights at the Brambles for my birthday and would recommend it to anyone. Forest Barns is easy to find and Lynda was so welcoming, the welcome hamper exceeded all expectations, with really thoughtful local items, fresh eggs, fresh bread etc. even milk in the fridge and the most amazing fresh coffee!
The Brambles itself is lovely - clean, modern, cosy with everything you could possibly need. It was lovely knowing that Lynda and Geoff were always on hand but we were left to ourselves so could really relax and get away from everything. There were guests staying in the barn next door but we heard nothing but sheep all week even with the Velux windows open to really appreciate the beautiful views.
The 'We wish we had known that' folder provided was a mine of information - even though our weather wasn't the best so we didn't brave any walking, it was clear there was much within walking distance of Forest Barn. Main routes, attractions and several towns are within easy drive despite feeling like you are nestled deep in the countryside.
There is so much to do nearby - we loved our visit to The International Centre for Birds of Prey, Canoeing down the Wye with canoes hired from Wyedean Canoe Hire and an amazing tour around Hopewell Colliery. If you are looking for really incredible food and fine dining then we can't recommend a meal at the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel in Clearwell enough.
Our stay at The Brambles was truly perfect and we are so grateful to Geoff and Lynda for a wonderful break - would recommend to anyone!
Lynda and Geoff were very friendly and helpful. The welcome hamper was amazing - very much appreciated. The kids' farm was lovely - our two-year-old loved feeding the chickens and Carol the rabbit - and overall the cottage/location were beautiful.
Brilliant stay, lovely location and lots of things for the kids to do! Walking in the area is lovely and we even went out on the bikes on day!
We have just spent a very relaxing few days with the kids and the dogs at Meadow Byre. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed and the whole family loved making a fire each night!
With the forest at our doorstep, there was always something to do and the trusty games room & swings became firm favourites with the kids in the gaps between excursions
Thanks so much for letting us share it!
Easy to book and Lynda was really helpful answering our many questions about the cottage and arranging for a fantastic catered meal while we were there.
Lovely accommodation, lovely log fire, very cosy barn. Nothing was any trouble with Lynda and Geoff. Genuinely kind people, who made our holiday.. We also had a chef that came in and cooked for 6 of us one evening... It was a fantastic meal and made the holiday special.. Food was amazing..a lovely evening.
Kids loved the outdoors, lots of walks, playing on the swings in the fields and visiting the chickens..
Orchard Barn is a lovely property and was so cosy and relaxing with the lovely wood burner and Christmas tree. With the field attached and so much land to run around in our dog thought she was in heaven. Lynda and Geoff were very hospitable and made us feel very welcome. We would recommend staying here and I'm sure we will return in the future.
It was everything it said on the tin and more. Would definitely recommend and will be returning Caroline Hine
Thank you, we had a lovely holiday. Sorry, forgot to tell you Sarah broke one of the glasses (a flute). Bed very comfortable and loved the shower. Kitchen well stocked and the place was very clean and quiet. Slight niggles - the carpet in one bedroom is very stained (perhaps just a rug over it?). Also agree with a comment in the visitors book that the photo of Orchard Barn is misleading. It looks much more 'on its own'. Would still have booked anyway and would be very happy to come back. Sorry we missed you when we left. Thanks again, it was great.
