Thank you for providing your feedback on this product. With our 100% Cotton covers, we do suggest giving them a couple of washes prior to use as this will help to soften them. This is something that can happen with cotton. The size difference is because the Travel version does not have the insert along the bottom se we apologise if this made the product unsuitable for you.
