This is because the receiver unit must be installed to communicate with the remote via radio frequency. Older models unfortunately aren’t compatible with the new receiver technology. We do our best to make this clear by including notes on compatibility, hardwiring requirements, and by providing spec sheets and installation manuals on our website for customers to review before purchasing.
