Great mag for UK jazz fans.
Of the jazz community, for the jazz community. I appreciate being treated as more than a customer - as a fellow enthusiast.
Having used them in the past, when I thought their postal charges were a little too high, I find them now a pleasure to deal with. A rapid response resulted in me having the book in a couple of days after placing the order.
Service rating : I was having difficulties placing my order via Jazzwise's website, something to do with my address or postcode, when after only a few minutes, my phone rang, and it was one of Jazzwise's helpful and happy chaps!!!!! He said he noticed my order attempts, and proceeded to take my order over the phone instead. He said that he would investigate and attempt to fix the problem. The book I ordered arrived the next day, even before they had sent the parcel dispatched notification/confirmation email.Product rating : This book is part of the recommended course material required on the RACC Intermediate Jazz Guitar course. It's very good. You can't get it from anywhere else other than the USA.

It is however the only publication I have come across which provides detailed information and practical help about breath control, use of the larynx, embouchure and tongue positions. Everything you need to know about how to improve the way you blow the thing.

Oh I fnally maybe have found in recent order : "All the shapes you are" + Herb Ellis Its frustrating from all sources to learn guitar jazz or other. You can only look at the cover and give it a go. None have a real get started even though you cant read. Can never give JW less than good because they are such nice people. Service rating : A great site, with a pleasingly large range of products available.Product rating : I bought this book solely for The Sweet Time Suite, as it was advertised as including the full score for this work. However, only parts 1-4 are included, and not the final three movements, which was a great disappointment. Customers should be made aware that only the first four parts are included in the book to avoid any further disgruntlement.

However not so happy to have to pay Royal Mail £1.50 because the magazine did not have sufficient postage (-50p) which also (greedily) incurred a "Handling Charge" of £1. Have emailed Jazzwise but to date have received no reply and I will be really less than happy if they do not bother to reply

Service rating : Excellent magazine which provides hours of enjoyment. Well written and well organised. Price seems appropriate as this magazine is well printed with many colour photos. Provides an excellent view of what's happening in (mainly) modern jazz in the UK today, and through interviews, photographs & articles, the latest in Europe and the USA. Makes me feel 'in touch' with developments in jazz. Prompt reviews of the latest recordings on release in the UK. Good range of reviewers with a wide range of taste & experience in the music. Not sure about 'The Colonel' and 'Art Failure' features - appear out-of-place in this magazine's style. Particularly enjoy the 'Taking Off', 'Turning Point', 'The Player', and 'Books/DVD- Live reviews', 'Gigs guide' 'Charting the Jazz Message CD/LP listings' and 'Letters' pages. All part of what is the magazine's strongest point - Jazz is ALIVE and kicking ! and it smells good ! (Sorry, Frank). I look forward to its arrival every month.Product rating : Firstclass service. I didn't give an "excellent" rating for the following reasons: letters page is superfluous, and the letters usually just boring rants; the Colonel feature is unfunny, & detracts from overall tone; the listings pages are badly laid out, can't find anything easily. You could just drop all these and use the space for more interesting features.

They provide me with a service which is indespensible. I study jazz, I do not have a personal tutor so jazzwise is my main source of information and help. The range of study materials Jazzwise provide for all instruments is impressive. I have also received intelligent suggestions from staff members when I asked for an opinion on a possible purchase I might make.

Service rating : I have been reading the magazine for the last 3 years. I look forward to reading it. i enjoy reading about new CD's and welcome the reviews. i also like to read about the re-issues. My only disappointment is that the gig list tends to concentrate on London venues, I know there are some from the south east and west, and the odd one from Manchester. I used to live in Essex, I relocated to the East Midlands in 2006. it is very rare to see any advertised gigs in my location. It has taken me years to find a jazz scene in Derby and Nottingham.Product rating : I have purchased Jamey Abersold products before and been happy. On this occasion, what I was most delighted by was how quickly it was delivered, and well packaged, the books were in perfect condition, not knocked about in the post.

I knew exactly what I wanted to buy and knew it was available through Jazzwise, but it was very difficult to find through the search facility on the Jw website. Maybe the items were classified under different names from the ones I was searching with - but there seemed no flexibility for different ways of referring to quite complicated book titles. If I'd been less sure that the books were on the site, I would have looked elsewhere.
I don't use the website. I would use the iPad app, but am not prepared to pay extra - every other journal I subscribe to allows full access as part of the non-digital sub. You guys are greedy!

It is so important to have specialists providing advice, an excellent range and good customer service. My favourite magazine, with intelligent journalists covering every type of jazz. I particularly like pieces young bands on the uk and scandinavian scenes. The review section and new talent spots are my faves. One drawback - the use of lots of small white type out of dark backgrounds is very difficult to read, and I presume your audience is largely made up of middle aged. with failing eyesight like myself. I notice you've had a slight redesign with the last issue - you could take it a bit further.Are you free Thurs 13 Sept?
