DOUBLE BEDDED TOWER ROOM

My wife and I have stayed at the Met dozens of times over the past 30 years, and it is a very special place for us. We enjoyed the Valantine party, however, it was a shame to see that the Spencer bar was not fully staffed. One of the bars were full of used plates and glasses, and the staff were pushed beyond their capasity, which resulted in having to find an alternative venue for lunch. The staff at reception, and in the restaurant were very helpful, and the food excellant as always.

We haven't stayed yet but have booked the Jazz weekend in Nov. '13. Would like some more info. on local fishing. I note that some nearby fishing on the Ithon seems no longer to be offered by the Wye and Usk Foundation 'Disserth' beat. Is it still available and how? I am entering a Travel Writers' Competition re. Mid Wales, which I love!

EXECUTIVE DOUBLE BEDDED ROOMS

Good service from staff all weekend and the room was one of the best we have stayed in. Could we have that room again next year!! Not that happy that the bar was closed on Friday night and in darkness when we returned to the hotel to have a social drink with friends. Should have been open for residents as I was staying for two nights!! Hotel lost some money as ten of us retired to our respective rooms and went to bed.

Thanks for bringing to my attention the issue with the bar. We will close the bar if there is no one around after 11.00pm but the night porter should always be on hand to serve drinks to residents and I apologies if there was some problem with this. I have reminded them of their responsibilities in the regard. Delighted you found your room comfortable and I suggest that when making your reservation for next year simply request that room. My sister and I stayed here over Christmas and were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was excellent and overall, feel that this was good value for money.

Although the entertainment was more suited to the older guests the staff embraced old fashioned values and service which is rarely seen these days. Well done.
