Country House Double/Twin

Service rating : Attentive and friendly staff contributed to a most relaxing and enjoyable weekend stay. A couple of minor niggles but these were resolved promptly. There was also a wedding on the Saturday and many guests stayed the night, making breakfast the following morning extremely busy; the staff mostly coped very well, although we had to wait a while for our cooked breakfast and then the marmalade ran out, which was a shame since it was highlighted on the menu as a speciality that had to be tried. It seems odd that a place like this could completely run out of marmalade, but we were told they were awaiting a delivery on Monday, so had to forego that particular treat.
Product rating : The Country House annex suited us perfectly - only a short, covered walk from the main building yet far enough away not to be disturbed by any noise from the wedding reception. Our room was to the back with a view across the countryside - although a room on the front would have looked on to the car park - and was a good size and very comfortable, with no problems. The inclusive three-course dinner with our package was delicious both nights, as were the breakfasts. We would definitely return for a stay, if a similar room were available.

Service rating : Lovely building in a beautiful setting. Room could have been cleaner, and staff serving breakfast could smile!
Product rating : We weren't impressed by the two mattresses put on top of each other. The top mattress was uncomfortable; the surrounding curtains on the bed were very dusty and there was a hole in the bed sheet and the bed runner was clearly worn with holes. Also the fact the bed frame base was patched up with MDF was not less than pleasing. In truth we felt that the four poster room did not live up to expectation and was not worth the rate, and would have preferred a standard double room as it was cheaper.

A very enjoyable stay - dinner excellent - lack of seating after dinner - eg sofas etc but we were found a room with a log fire when they realised this

Service rating : Very good all around. Breakfast time let the hotel down. The staff were friendly but the number of staff against a full capacity hotel leaves the staff struggling to coup and the guests frustrated and fighting to get served for basics such as coffee and toast fro the kitchen.
Product rating : On the last morning the water was cut off without warning. My wife in the middle of her shower. The excuse was that they were having to deal with a leak in another room and the staff thought we had checked out. There was no checking at all.
