Service rating : Always available to answer pre-trip questions.
Product: The tour guide Moon was very knowledgeable and gave tips/as to how much we should expect to pay for taxis etc when venturing out by ourselves. The trip was varied and enjoyable. Would book again.

Service rating : Actually, probably a rating of average is more appropriate. The trip biggest defect was the under estimated travel times. We ended spending many hours stuck on a bus and had little time for optional activities. In addition, as a family type trip, I think it would be a good idea to have more hands-on activities (baking Naan, making fruit drinks, henna tattooing, scalp oil massage, etc) to keep the kids interested. The elephant camp in Guruvayur was closed for a month prior to our trip, but we still went there. At the other park destination (Periyar), our guided walk took us for a trek through an area that was not where the elephants normally feed, according to the ranger (why did we go there?). As far as organization- our guide, who tried hard and was lovely, was recruited for this trip only 10 hours before the start. He didn't know the area well and, therefore, could not add any local flavour to our experience. In addition, we heard from the inn keeper in Periyar that the request for our accommodation arrived just days before arrival, hence she was unable to have us for both nights. Instead we were moved from one homestay to another, the first also being quite sub standard.
In summary, a disappointmenting holiday. Hope you can improve it for others. Ninia Lupovici.

Service rating : This was our 4th trip with the company. I have found them friendly and helpful when approached but for this holiday the Trip notes did not marry up with reality - We were travelling at the end of the Monsoon period which did affect the roads and hence the journey times. However we were not warned of this in the trip notes.
Some of the group with young children were very disappointed that few of the hotels had pools attached when the notes clearly stated most hotels had swimming pools. Our final destination Kovalam beach was a lot wilder and with a very rough sea- far from the idyllic palm fringed beach the Trip notes described.
Nevertheless the basic formula and group style holiday works very well for my daughter and myself so I have rated the company good.
Product: Our holiday was really helped by the expert knowledge and professional approach of our tour leader Thoufeeq Sait .He was vigilant about our safety and made sure that wherever we ate and stayed was up to the high standard he expected. In addition he was an expert on his country and his state of Kerala and showed us around and took us to places we would never have ventured without him. The holiday was varied and busy as the Adventure holidays always are- some very long days and more time than was expected in the coach travelling some long distances. We loved the variety and the trip into the tea plantations and Western Ghats was brilliant. We also enjoyed the contrast of the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu which was so much drier, literally, than the showery hills of Kerala. Despitethe rain we loved our trip into Periyar national park and discovered the benefits of Leech socks! Our stay on the converted rice barge was disappointing and was the only place where the accommodation was not of a good standard. Simple was fine but it was also grubby which was offputting. It was good to have some final days in Kovalam which is a more touristy area and although the beach is not suitable for real swimming it is a pleasant and relaxed resort.

Service rating : Everything was exceedingly well organised and the group leader was outstanding in his care and interest in the children, the effort he put in to ensure that we all got as much from the tour as we possibly could, and his flexibility when requested to make changes to the itinerary in order to satisfy individual interests.
Product: We loved the tour because there was so much variety and a good balance of culture, wildlife and adventure, which suited the whole family. The small group size worked well for us and we felt that we all really bonded as a group and have exchanged telephone numbers to meet again in the future. Thank you for a truly unforgettable holiday.

Service rating : For this particular trip (our 5th with AC) we were very unhappy that our flight carrier was changed despite telling us in January and when we paid the full amount that the flights were confirmed. We had a query the evening before we flew and left message on answerphone but had no reply. Just felt the communication needs to be tightened up. Disappointing.
Product: The guide was excellent. The trip notes did not correlate with those of our guide. Journey times were way out, in the brochure it says pools at most resorts any only 2 provided (and not at the places marked). We extended our stay on the basis of the picture of the beach (IT WAS NOT THE SAME BEACH!!!). I would not recommend it for 7 year olds based on the length of coach journeys alone.

Service rating : We had the most wonderful guide - the best we have had in 5 trips. Thoufeeq Sait was wonderful with both the children and teenagers (who ranged from 7 to 17) and the parents. He clearly loved his food and the out of the way restaurants he took us to were an experience to relish - if the place wasn't up to his standards - we did not enter. He was very knowledgeable, witty and fun. He was very strict with the driver (smelling his breath each morning) and we all felt safe on the very long journeys. The Monsoon made us have to skip some of the iternary but he ensured we saw other things. He was disappointed, like us, about the condition of the houseboats, but this was not in his control.
An excellent guide and we would go on another trip any time if he was the leader.
Product: The guide Fhoufeeq Sait was fantastic. I have not put an excellent score, but that is not his fault - as mentioned before the trip notes (length of journeys and lack of swimming pools along with the boathouse accommodation) lets the score down. But we as a family have nothing but praise for Mr Sait.

Service rating : Very helpful and friendly staff throughout the booking process. We were given good advice and information via the trip notes and emails.
Product: A wonderful trip with lots of variety of interest and scenery - we all had different favourites but the day on the houseboat, the views from Munnar, the Abraham's spice garden near Periyar all linger in our memories! India has been described as an assault on the senses and it lived up to that with the vivid colours, sights and tastes and even the longer drives were never boring. The standard of hotels was better than we had expected with generally spacious rooms and some great locations and restaurants had a good choice. Tony our guide was informative and helpful and added many little touches that enhanced our cultural experience, he was great with the children too. We also made a few tuktuk and taxi rides independently e.g. to the Gandhi museum in Madurai and to the southern tip of India which were great fun. Only one negative - I think we'd all suggest that the visit to the Guruvayur elephants is dropped from the itinerary. Although they were clearly well looked after the elephants were chained to posts and between their hind legs and there was no 'up close and personal' or baby elephants to enjoy. The Periyar elephants were so much better!
