This has been disappointing as our rather dim cockerels haven't been able to use it, even with using a stone to weigh down the treadle. It may be because they are too big - they are large Orpingtons, so I will try it out on our more clever (and smaller) hens next. It is a well built and robust bit of kit, so I will rate it as good, and hope for improved performance.
Very good service. Goods arrived safely the day after ordering. Would use again happily.

Does what it said it would
We've had the feeder a week now, and have had a brick weighting down the treadle. I was a bit nervous that the chickens hadn't worked out what to do since I hadn't seen anyone using it - but I've just come indoors from seeing two of them taking turns, so I'm happy now! A good weather-proof feeder, and I hope the rats have met their match.

A great feeder and my chickens soon got the hang of it! Although the wild bunny in the garden has got the hang of it too, at least the rats have gone!
Hens were scared away by the loud noise made when the unit opened and shut I had to add rubber stops to dull the noise but they still seem scared of the opening and shutting so I have had to leave it propped open.
Working well although the stupid chickens are scared of it and took 3 days of starvation to approach it! Slight trouble putting it together- I found the instructions later! It keeps the Jackdaws away from the food!
Again, another excellent buy! Testimony to our research I guess, but also to Flyte So Fancy for stocking them. Extremely solid construction, in the torrential weather we have had this year, in our exposed location, the feeder kept all contents dry, amazingly. And British-made - another bonus after the cheap bendy Chinese products we occasionally have the misfortune of receiving.

We really could have done with better quality illustrations to help with putting together the treadle mechanism, but we worked it out in the end. We needed this to stop the wild birds stealing all the chicken food. It's taken a couple of days for the chooks to work out where their food is but they've found it now !

Thanks so much for your help with the treadle feeder and offering to take it back if it didn't work for us. I took your advice and got the anti spill gadget from Wells Poultry and it works a treat and we no longer have piles of feed under the treadle. It would be good if you could sell it and recommend it on your site too, as for us the feeder was of no use without it or maybe we just have very greedy chicks!
The gap between the hopper and the tray is too small and the pellets do not fall readily into the tray also my chickens have had just over 3 weeks to learn to use this and they are still not feeding happily from it,they are startled every time time the lid "clangs" open and closed.

A very good feeder - large capacity and helps deal with the vermin problem. The hens got used to it very quickly. Highly recommended.
A good value product - the lid does require a little coaxing to get back on when lifted but this is only done infrequently and not a porblem.
