Hotel Booking

On Sunday 26 July it was difficult to find available accommodation in the West of Scotland for Saturday 8 August, for 4 adults, due to it being peak holiday time. Eventually I found The Glen Coe Hotel on your website with 2 available rooms which I tried to book. The booking page asked me for a name for the FIRST room but did not have a section for the SECOND room. I filled in the first room information and continued with the application expecting the second room to come up but it did not, so I completed the booking of the first room. [I did not realise I had signed up for a non-refundable booking - my mistake discovered later.] Immediately I went back to the booking page to book the other room as the website still clearly said there were 2 rooms available - and it continued to say this for at least half an hour or an hour or more after there were no rooms
available. We have lost £140 and the Hotel say they cannot let out the room to others who are desperate for accommodation until Expedia cancel my booking.

The 2 members of your staff with whom I spoke on the telephone on Sunday 26 August were both helpful and one referred my case to the [?] Tea Leaf group. I was told I would get a message from Expedia in 48 - 72 hours. It is now 48 hours so I await a reply soon. I have admitted my mistake of choosing the non-refundable room but it would not have been a problem if your website was kept up to date regarding the available rooms. It should have flagged up that only ONE room was available, not two, and then I would not have tried to book at that hotel.

You said the hotel had air conditioning but it didn't. As a result we had to move to another hotel about 40 minutes drive away from where we wanted to be. A/C is important to us as my husband suffers from night terrors when sleeping in a hot room. Very bad service.

Whilst the selection of hotels was very good, I couldn't book the ACTUAL hotel I wanted and was forced to pick another one. This happened because of my redemption of Nectar points and the application of these to the final total. Due to the inadequacies of the Expedia booking system, I could not pick the hotel I wanted as there was no option to pay now as opposed to later. Major flaw in the system and the person on the other end of the phone then suggested some generic B n B as an alternative and was pushing that considerably, having to be told in no uncertain terms that I wanted to pick my own 2nd choice hotel as the company didn't have the facility to allow me to make my 1st choice. Poor service and not what I expected from this company. If I was not using voucher and getting money off I would have had no hesitation in booking with an alternative company (booking.com) that I have used before, don't have any silly rules, up to date computer systems and I am sure more sympathetic staff that could have done something for me as opposed to palming me off with computer system nonsense and then offering up some sub-standard alternative. The hotel I DID choose I have used before and will be good, just not the one I actually wanted. I will also contact the original hotel to make them aware of their loss in revenue between room/dinner/drinks and they can take it up with Expedia. Consider using alternative!

I booked a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando via Expedia and it was a total waste of money. I thought I was booking something a bit special for my son's 21st birthday but found on arrival that our 'priority seating' didn't really apply and we had to wait like any customer who has just walked in off the street. We then found out that choosing from the 'Bluegrass' menu basically means that you're choosing from a very restricted menu (choose one item from a 'choice' of 3 burgers or 3 sandwiches plus dessert consists of a scoop of ice-cream - no choice apart from chocolate or vanilla). Rather than this being a special meal, we felt like we were the poor relations in a restaurant full of people eating what they wanted. Never again.
